Last week while we were “child free” for the afternoon we stepped into Anthropologie, downtown Oakville, and I fell in LOVE!! I knew it was awesome but from the moment I entered the store I was just mesmerized by all the amazing clothes, stationary, home decor, and not to mention the merchandising! I was like a moth to light LOL saying to my husband ” I love this” and “I love that” in an “I’m not a crazy lady” kind of whisper growl. Weirdoooo I know! The Boho style this store oozes was so speaking my design love language. Simply put I was in heaven. I snapped a few shots with my phone because well I just couldn’t help myself.
The balloons in this first shot were eye catching and really drew me in so I had to capture that. They kind of had the “Up” movie vibe going on. Kind of whimsical and a great use of the soaring space.
After the balloons I spotted this back wall, which was nicely organized and had some of the best smelling candles I’ve ever smelt. The sign up top was rustic and aged, a nice complement to all the goodies down below. The old soul in me was immediately drawn to the silver tray corralling the Ruffled Rim Mugs on the table.
Don’t even get me started on Home Decor, after going to the second level I discovered the quilts, knobs, books and this fine little display. Yes its simple but come on – look at that table!! Romantic and easy going, Pinched Glass Vases with foliage all working harmoniously with the wall behind it.
The throws, quilts, shams and throw pillows were all amazing and made me want to have a little slumber party in the store. So all weekend when I had a few minutes here and there I put together this little mood board to show how easy it would be to create a beautiful and romantic master suite. While designing it I kept in mind a master suite or even a guest room. I wanted it to feel warm, calm, welcoming, charming, feminine but still liveable for your other half. It all began with the duvet on the bed in the store, it was a crisp white but I chose to use the ivory version. I liked it because it has a ton of texture, dimension and a feminine vibe through the muted floral pattern. The three shams tie the room together, I included the duvets matching euro sham, a navy + pink Kilele sham to bring in some colour, plus a wonderful embroidered + tassel sham to tie in the intricate detail used in the medallion mirror. Let’s talk lighting – the chandelier really spoke to me with its dramatic style. The colour of the iron, copper and wood gives it a masculine rustic feel but the glass and candle stick shape lend to femininity in the room. A task lamp is always useful and adds balance to each side of a room, I added the navy lamp base to compliment one of the shams and add a sense of grounding to the space. I loved the washed wood nightstand and thought it went hand in hand with the chandelier, not to mention a ton of storage. Under foot the plush Herald rug would be comfortable and warm, in addition to comfort I chose the Fringed Flokati Rug to add that little bit of pattern for interest and texture. All the accessories add a pop of colour, practicality and some repetition. In the end this room is delightful, for me anyway, I’ll take one (or two) of everything please 😉
