Hey Friends,
A few months back I met with a client to discuss her basement plans. She owns a beautiful spacious bungalow with a fully finished walkout basement, it was pretty much a blank slate. She was looking for some decorating and colour inspiration to pull the space together. They currently use it as a family room to watch television and host their small grandchildren. There were some elements and furniture pieces that would remain. Her sofa, two arm chairs, television, carpet, and window shutters would all stay in the space as they function well and were fairly new. I came up with a few different schemes that would suit her taste and work well with the current decor on the upper level. It is very important to consider the colour palette in the rest of the home as well as how the owners use the space; here, it needed to be kid friendly, feel inviting and finished. I included pattern, texture, colour and various other elements to create harmonious moodboards. I did a one on one consultation where we discussed colour options, her vision for the space and and how they utilize the space. It was also important to define the zones within the large space because it was a long open room which required definition. E-Design was what she settled on because she knew she had the time, energy and ability to complete the update with my guidance at her own pace. The concepts I developed fell into three styles which were very different but all very appropriate.
