Hi Friends!
I’m just popping in with a quick little post to show you a behind the scenes peek at our fireplace facelift. We hustled to make decisions, source products and partnered with our friends at Canadian Tire to make it happen. Whether you are having a party, hosting guests for an extended period of time or putting your house on the market there is nothing like the rush of getting your home organized and in tip-top presentable shape. When we bought our house there was a stone veneer already applied to the fireplace, which was not quite our style, but it wasn’t horrific either. It was not our first priority on the list of things to be done because it was in good condition. Did we love it? No. Could we live with it? Yes. So four years later we were still living with it while a number of things changed on the main level. It was finally time to give the fireplace a facelift. I took a few shots with my phone throughout the process just so I could share them with you guys and hopefully inspire you. These photos are not pretty but it is important for you to see what happens during a small project.
I knew that I wanted a warm crisp bright white to finish off the look and that the fireplace/book shelf combination wouldn’t face a lot of wear and tear. As you guys may or may not know, there are a ton of great white options out there but they are all unique in their own way. I used the Premier Essential Whites colour guide to narrow down the best options and avoid having loose samples all over the house. I have used Premier Infinity before and loved it because of the one-coat coverage and durability. In this case, the built in bookshelves were already white, the wood shiplap was natural and it is not a high traffic area so I went with the Premier Active line to save a little money. It is stain resistant, easy to wash, and has zero VOCs. Can you guess which white I decided on?
Here is a reminder of what the living room looked like on the day we moved in.
And here is a little sneak peek of what it looks like now.
