Hey Guys,
December is here and Christmas is right around the corner so of course there are decorations everywhere you look. They’re in the stores, in our neighborhoods and in our social feeds. Heck the Christmas decor was showing up early last month! Usually I’m totally on the early decor bandwagon but with our new addition this year kids toys and miscellaneous baby ‘stuff’ has taken over. The thought of adding more to our main floor in November was a little overwhelming, clutter stresses us out. I do however want to give my daughter some amazing holiday memories. Now that the baby takes up so much of my time and she is incredibly helpful this is a little something extra just for her. She has been asking when we are decorating, she’s totally into it of course, so I thought a sweet pink Christmas tree in her room and some decor would be such a nice surprise. Let me tell you, it was! I surprised her after school with all the sparkly goods and she was OVER THE MOON! Looking back I wish I recorded it…her response was the sweetest, jumping smiling and continuously saying how much she loves her room. I used a small faux tree, a rose gold metal banner, giant bows, butterflies, sparkly ornaments and one hour of my time. It is super simple you guys but a huge impact for a seven year old that is all about sparkles, unicorns and anything bright.
Here’s three simple tips for dressing any tree using a monochromatic palette in a short amount of time:
- Start with a colour scheme and lights.
- Use a variety of ornaments and garland (texture, size, style).
- Create a balanced rhythm by staggering the ornaments and garland so the eye moves naturally from side to side top to bottom.
